"I don't think we fit in any scene at all. We've always done our own thing and stuck out, we take pride in that, it's our ethic and we have stuck by it. We've never been interested in regurgitating what's already been done and trying to sound like other bands or fit into any scene. However, we do take inspiration from other artists and bands and we absolutely consider ourselves a rock band in every way."
Indeed, a bold statement offered by New Medicine singer/rhythm guitarist Jake Scherer. But his band's music speaks for itself, and an unmistakable buzz is rumbling from coast to coast, as New Medicine's total record sales have topped over 30K nationwide, and the band has scored a top 15 Mediabase Active Rock single with "Race You To The Bottom." Additionally, New Medicine (whose current line-up consists of Scherer, as well as lead guitarist Dan Garland, bassist Kyle LeBlanc, and drummer Dylan Wood) has already logged 3 years of hard touring, having played shows with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold and Shinedown, as well as part of such package festival tours such as the Carnival Of Madness and the Uproar Festival.
New Medicine's follow-up to their last album, 2010's 'Race You To The Bottom,' is scheduled to arrive some time in the Spring of 2014. And as it turns out, the yet-to-be-titled disc (which will contain such tunes as "World Class F**k Up" and "Desire Into Gold") will be the group's first for their new label, Imagen Records. As evidenced by the aforementioned list of renowned artists that they have shared the stage with, New Medicine is already a force to be reckoned with as a concert act. And according to Scherer, the band is more than ready for heavy roadwork once the new disc drops. "Our live show is going to be completely next level for us. We are taking this year away to reinvent ourselves and come back out better than ever."
But first thing is first - finish off a killer new set of tunes. Scherer: "Well the plan as of now is finish recording our second record for the next few months. I have never put so much time and work into one project as I have on this second record. Its a huge accomplishment for me and the band, we cannot wait to finish it and get it to our fans. We want to take our band to the absolute next level, we want to be global, we want to get our music to as many people as possible. We have worked so hard on this record, we want to make sure we get it to anybody who wants to hear it, and we won't stop till we do."
