September Mourning are one of the most intriguing new bands to emerge in the past few years. The alternative-edged hard rock act is releasing music in conjunction with a graphic novel series that will also serve to tell the band's unique and fantasy-driven story.
The band consists of lead singer September, bassist Shadou, drummer Stitch and guitarists Riven and Wraith. Although relatively new, they've already opened for Marilyn Manson on tour, and their unique sound has been described as a cross between the aforementioned Mr. Manson and Lady Gaga, mixed with My Chemical Romance, Motionless In White and Paramore.
Regarding the EP's debut single, September says, "Children of Fate" is a call to arms for every person who has felt helpless, hopeless or worthless...a battle cry against the negativity we are surrounded by everyday. It is a song about the strength of knowing it's not just you, alone, verses the world, it is all of us together verses whatever stands in our way. Musically, It is the first chapter in the story of September Mourning."
September Mourning will be releasing new music in a partnership with a graphic novel series created by September and Top Cow Comics CEO Marc Silvestri. The band announced the release of the first issue at a panel at this year's Comic-Con, and its Kickstarter campaign was fully-funded in under 72 hours!
Their debut, self-titled EP was produced by Howard Benson, and the band recently performed to great critical acclaim at the 2015 Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio, and will also be on the bill at this year's 2015 Aftershock Festival in Sacramento in October.
