Catalyst: a person or thing that precipitates an event or change.

 

In only a few years, Sweden's We Are The Catalyst has managed to stir up quite the buzz.   Formed in 2012 ,   it's been  the  band's  intent  to become  a light in the dark for those who need it the most.

 

Even t he name 'We Are The Catalyst' is meant as encouragement to overcome and challenge the darker parts of ourselves, and others, to invite the listeners to keep fighting in a rough and dark world, and try to encourage them to be their best self, even when it might seem hopeless.

 

Their sound has been described many ways: Alternative Metal, Emotional Rock, Metalcore, Electronic Pop Rock, Dark Metal, etc., all of which means nothing -  the band's truly unique blend is a mix of old-school Metal , along  with a strong, dark, and very-modern feel.

 

The band’s debut EP from 2013, Panem Et Circenses, was a critical and fan favorite, earning the band inclusion on several movie  soundtracks and radio and video airplay in over 20 countries  across the globe .

 

The ir  debut album, Monuments released in October of 2014, topped everything previously from WATC.  I t hit harder, it soared higher, and it cut just a little bit deeper. The album's radio single for “Don’t You Worry ,  Child,” was a blunt assessment of the heartbreaking truths surrounding child abuse in the world and the steps that we can all take to help end this terrible affliction. At the start of the music video for the song ,  none other than  TV  talk-show legend Jerry Springer address es  the viewer with a request to help raise funds, as all profits from the single go to The Fostering Network  to  help children in need find loving homes.

 

In March of 2015, We Are The Catalyst embarked on a 10 - day tour of China,  having  being invited to perform at the prestigious “Sound of the City” music expo in Beijing, as well as playing stand-alone shows and China's biggest music  gathering, the  Strawberry Festival in Shanghai, where WATC headlined the “Planet Stage”.

 

In June of 2015 WATC won first prize in a competition organized by Metal Hammer  and the Dutch  s ymphonic  m etal band Delain, and the prize was  the opportunity  to perform at  the  Bloodstock Open Air  festival ,  along  with bands like Trivium, Within Temptation and more, as well as opening for Delain at their Birmingham show on their U . K .  tour. This coincided with WATC doing their first-ever U . K .  headline tour of 13 shows in October/November.

 

In December of 2015 WATC returned to the UK for the third time that year, headlining the second stage at the Planet Rockstock  festival  alongside  bands  such as  The Darkness and Rival Sons.

 

With their sophomore album, Elevation, released in September of 2016, the band took their sound to a  whole  new level.  It was d arker, heavier and more emotional ,  while still maintaining their trademark melodic,  and  modern sound.

 

Now the members of We Are The Catalyst have spent the last couple of years recording and polishing their soon-to-be-released third album, scheduled for an early 2019 release , and they are clearly ready for  an even  bigger worldwide  audience.
